Iv built a couple combution canons and now im gona make a pnumatic. IM in the prosses of building right know. Its gona be an over under syle and its gona have 48" or 36" (cant decide witch yet) of 3" air tank and an equal length of barrle(2"). then i should have 1.5:1 ratio. the thing is im using a 1" pvc ball valve. You think it will work good? Ill get pics up soon once i finish it. How do they compare to combutions? better, worse?

Okay...um have you read the spudwiki at all????

Umm...k to answer your questions. A ball valve wastes too much power. Get a sprinkler valve and modify it for the valve.

As for performance, pneumatics tend to usually be more powerful. They can hurl heavier stuff farther, et cetera..

I personally like combustions because they are portable.

Mopherman made a marble gun useing a 1 inch ball valve it shot exceptionally well. I was amazed because it was only his second gun.

If yoru right handed have the ball valve faceing left.

It really depends on pressure and barrel length. My canon isn't to loud.

Why not get a metal ballvalve?
And I suggest having a longer barrel, ratios aren't like they are in combustions/

metal ball valves are better because they open easer therefor faster and it you ever want a simple upgrade you can spring load it for faster opening time

ok i just finished my cannon today. I tested it at 40 psi (cuse i wanted to give the new salvent a break) and with a potato it shot ok. it shot like 100-150 ft abouve my trees from like 150 ft behind them. so i think with 100 psi it will do preaty good. Pics tommoro !

make sure the plastic pvc valve is psi rated or it can blow up in your hand. as i'm told or what could happen with my cannon.

u should really get a metal ball valve the more u use it the harder it gets to open and close, plus it is so much easier to use
