Grenade Revisited (improvements to Pvc Arsenal's mine)

I just built one of PVC Aresnal's Air Delay mines. They work good but the delay is just not sufficient enough, and you can't have it prefilled and ready to go without it triggering within the next 5 seconds. My design to improve on his to fix these problems, is show below:

You could just make a diaphragm one, they're more compact and stronger.

"if i was you"
Why do you need to be him? Can't you try it? Do you even know what a diaphragm is?!

I think you may need to be added to my signature.
i agree
but on subject, i think a trip mine would be so much more reliable and easy to make, like a 1/2 sprinkler valve piloted by a blow off valve

u could have a diaphragm grenade with the pilot a small prinkler or qev..have a pop off for the pilot, a string hooked up the the ring of the pop off and have teh paint/whatever ur using directed toward the trip wire so when someone pulls it, it sprays them..

or u could forget jsut being pneumatic and make it hybrid.... just make a long remote ignition and ignite it from behind a bush...

okay a trip mine why would you change the design if it won't suit the purpose. trip mine are easy hes trying to propose a grenade design not a trip mine design

his design seems to be a directional charge, unlike a conventional frag grenade. I figure there was an easier way to achieve the results he wanted

I could just put a balloon for a burst disk, and fill it with BBs.

I was also thinking of making a claymore type mine, with a sprinkler w/ solenoid remotely triggered via a wire and a button switch, just like the real thing.
I am broke now, so I cant try my idea...

I just noticed this thread. Funny thing is, I was just staring at my mine, trying to figure out what to improve.

I had some good results, but the burst discs were too unreliable. I was using different kinds of tape. None produced a decent power-delay result. And of course, my short attention span caused me to move on to something else. But I will come back to it.

Good luck with yours. If you come across a good burst disc material, please let me know.

well I was pigging out on junk food today and I realized that my gummy snack packages could be used for burst disk, so try various food wrappers and packaging material, it also helps when your mom is a Costco member and tends to buy some stuff in bulk like fruit gummies

Costco?

Ask her why they switched from $.85 pretzels to expensive churros.

Any chip bags or candy wrappers are very good burst discs. In a 1" union, they burst at about 90-115 psi, and in a 1/2" union they burst at about 130 psi. They also seal perfectly, which is also a big improvement on layered aluminum foil.

Cut-up balloons work good. They have a low bursting pressure, but they swell up, so they get even more of a delay (about 3.5 seconds). You could layer them to get more power.

hmm if maybe if you like ballons tire tubes would be good
