I want to build a pneumatic cannon, My question is if I have a 6 inch diameter tank thats 4 foot long and I have a straight 1 inch modded sprinkler valve. That goes down to a 1 inch barrel, Would I be pushing too much air through the barrel and it could possiblely explode? I have built preumatics before but this was just an idea.

Nah, it won't explode. If it's not solid, but cellular core, it could, but otherwise, you should be safe.

I drillled several half in. pieces of pvc with an 11/16 so I co uld shoot marbles with them .after a couple hundred shots or so two of them blew out . they just simply blew off an inch or two of material at the weakest point ,usually around the center of the barrell. No physical harm c ame to me or anything for that matter ,the pieces just w ent a few feet and hit the ground. I have three left and none of them ever seem to have any prob ,I now have one made of steel pipe ,but there doesn't seem to be any advantage ,it's just heavier to pack around.

Unless you have a really long 1" barrell ,you have a lot more tank than you need, you could have a 2 or even 3" barrel and do well.
