what kind of skewer?

The problem with a skewer is that it will be unstable and start to tumble the minute it leaves the barrel, you're going to need to make some sort of tail to keep it flying straight.

Other than that a regular pneumatic with a 1/4" barrel and modded sprinkler valve like this one will work nicely

For future reference, note that this is the "showcase" section for finished cannons, this topic belongs in the "discussion" section.

the skewer is 22cm or if your an american 8 and a half inches long wooden skewers that have small fins on the back that rotate it as it leaves the barrel im hopeing for a range of 50 meters which i don't know what that is in the imperial system. also what should i use spring or air air would be hard i think though. i'll post some blue prints for it in about a week i have started to make the stock. I will test it on palm trees and gum trees. last time i attempted to make one with rubber bands and it miss fired and penetrated 1/4 of an inch into my left arm

air would be way easier. just make something roughly like the gun Jack posted.

I'm sorry about the skewer in your arm. Maybe you can join me, I have had a pencil tip in my right hand for over a year.

I'd go with a spring, you can shop around for broken airsoft guns and loot springs from them.

A-98 problem with air is that it runs out prety fast and that skewers are thin and the air would not cathch them as you may think

I'd go with air, much more power available and mechanically much simpler to make using standard fittings. there are plenty of aussies on this forum who can help you with exactly what parts you should be using and where to get them from.

Do what so many respectable aussies such as myself, Chaos and U2 have done and build a bolt from an arrow and build a pneumatic cannon to go with it.

yeah rhys just go with air but put a piece of paper around the end of the skewer so it can take as much pressure as possible and also give a nice effect when you fire it and a piece of paper flies out as well.

And why the firetruck weren't you at school today? We were going to lock you in the elevator and send you up to the library level so you get a FRIDAY.

PM me.

Modderxtrordanare bring it paper clips are fine but have you ever being fired at by ten different people with weapons you've made for them and than got your favorite weapon taken from you and burnt i don't think so i win and imperiator1 will back me up on this one.

twitch tell me how where in australia do you live? i live in NSW.

imperialist im thinking breach loaded 100 psi or higher if i can get to the BWRFS fire extinguishers which go to 200 psi i know insane and they weight about 5 pounds. and have an extendable barrel to make it easier to store and then laser sight i just love them    . so you extend the barrel open the breach put skewer with fins in then put a huge clump of cotton wool behind it attach bottle to sniper take out the safety pin and press the release valve should do fine i saw the cotton ball thing on mythbusters they used it when they shout a metal rod through a palm tree and penetrated the piece of ply wood behind it and then it went an inch into a cinder block wall

I'm pretty sure having your eye cut open by a paper clip and going to the ER for the whole entire day is alot more painful. I've caught myself on fire too. That's pretty painful aswell.
