Today I finished making my first ever cannon. It was a pill box cannon and it works a treat.I didn't glue the barrel as it worked fine/better as a remove able barrel for more fun. But I don't think I am ready to move to the big combustion cannons yet but I also think I can go bigger than the humble pill box. So..

1. Are 1/2 litre bottle strong enough to with stand a combustion cannons force?
2. Is is better to have the barrel comming from the bottom of the bottle (a pen casing) or from the lid?

Thanks guys

a pill bottle should work, and dont try having the barrel coming out of the lid,the lid is there so you can spray in more fuel,so it woild be best to have the lid at the back, barrel in front.

oh ok. I have finished my pill bottle one, but I want to move onto a "propper" bottle cannon. Any suggestions?

well,i would personally go for a simple screw on end cap for a first time, much simpler, and it means that you can use deodorant,a very good fuel. have a look in the cannons gallery to get some ideas.
