well i was talking to my friend the other day about spud guns... and he said that he would pay me to build him one... so after some talking he decided he wanted me to build a small coper rifle about 1 meter in length to shoot marbles... what i am wondering is would a blow gun be good enough to let the air out fast enough... or am i going to have to build another piston valve ? or do you have any other good ideas for valves?
edit : he wants to run it at about 250 psi

What's a blow valve?

That's exactly what I thought as soon as I read this.

Make a piston valve... a blowgun wouldn't exhaust fast enough (I assume blow valve means blowgun?)

If that's what he's talking about, then no, a blowgun won't be able to shoot a marble. I also wouldn't advise you to build a piston valve, since the last thing you attempted was a pneumatic made of DWV cell core ABS, "sealed" with duct tape. I would also advise your friend not to buy anything from you unless he wants to die early.

it is made from copper... AKA wont explode... and by the way i have a new valve in my gun now with O rings on it
edit- i have made other guns since that one to... i just dont bother posting them on here

It will if he runs it at 250 psi, because seeing from the other stuff you've made you probably can't solder or sweat fittings well enough to hold that kind of pressure.

Well thats a relief, now the world know that ticking time bomb will still blow up, but at least the timer looks nice.

well you could use a 1/4 qev to pilot. or you might be able to get away with a blowgun if your piston has orings and is a near perfect seal

It makes no sense to you because you don't understand it.
Great metaphor!

I say it would be safe at 100psi if you know how to solder but at 250psi leaving that kind of pressure with your friend is a bit dodgy, if it blows both of you are screwed.

I wouldn't trust anybody with my metal guns...

A blowgun would be good enough to pilot a marble cannon but is really too small for direct flow control.

Grab a QEV and copy one of the copper QEV designs round here.
