I'm kind of at a dilema. I want to build a paintball tank, but if I go ahead and build it my cannon budget will be cut short.I'll probably only have a regular old sprinkler valve gun mounted in it for a while. But,If I don't build the tank I ca build a coaxial breech loader(similar to "goat's gun"but not quite) and further my tank hunting.

The tank would be fun but upkeep is a pain(paint costs). And of course the cannon would be great(the mack daddy on the field) but I'll get shot up pretty bad.

So should I build the tank and a basic cannon or build a super cannon for eliminating other peoples tanks?Help me decide.

Build the tank, play for "pink-slips", win, sell the other tanks/ pb guns, build great gun! :D
Haha, no, I think you should build the gun and keep the surplus in savings for the tank, or you could just start building the tank once youve built the gun and complete it once youve got the funds. Tough choice though.

In the end, you will have done both things. So I say make the tank first.

I think like this... you have the choice of building a nice cannon or a freakin' cool tank. *imagines rampaging around garden* :D

Put in a low range gear box and plow through weak walls and small trees

So Goathunter, what do you have in mind for this tank?

I'd go for the anti-tank rifle option. Formidable as a tank is, it can still be knocked out by a simple explosive device cooked up in an Iraqi basement, hell even a well placed molotov cocktail will put one out of commision - I think it's clear where the power lies ;)

Plowing through walls is a little out of range for the tank I'm imagining.Nothing overly impressive. It will be small, very similar to a walking tank(most places I play don't allow walking tanks) with the difference being that it will be powered by an old goped of mine.Cheesy huh! But hopefully effective.Small and very maneuverable. And who could forget cheap!I am after all a poor teenager.

I got the inspiration from this guy(blackhawk on the post).Although mine will look a lot better and be smaller.

The problem with adding one of my existing ideas for a cannon is the length. The ones I have now are just too heavy for the front of a goped. If i go with the tank I'll initially have "goat's gun" mounted and see how that goes.I think its still a little to long but I'll give it a go.Mind you I won't have a paintball gun mounted on this. Only the cannon, but the cannon will shoot shotgun loads as well as nerf footballs.

Dude, that's just gay, why end up with a half-arsed tank when with your skillz, it would be much easier to concentrate your effort on something like this or this and really pwn the battlefield?

Wow, those guns look really awesome, and I agree with JSR... but then the rampaging image seduces my mind, and Im at a total loss! In the end I think Im inclined to go with JSR though, because his explaination seems logical and true. Build the gun is my vote

Well that's good to hear because I was partial to a new cannon anyways.I like the tank but my team has been tossing around the idea to build a historically accurate tank recently.I may let them build it.

I guess I'll go with the new cannon. It will most likely be cheaper than a tank.Plus,I'm already very familiar with tank hunting.I'd be furthering my job as heavy weapons expert  Every team needs more foot powered firepower.

I had an idea for a simple paintball bazooka...

It was made for t shirts, but paintballs with a sabot will also work well.

You're close to my design. But I'm opting for a pressure washer handle instead of a trigger frame. And the air inlet will be in the back.Eliminating the need for a spring. It will look like the Steyr AMR with a twist(jack's first "this").
And the loading mechanism will be a side loading break open breech.Based off of the http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl17-e.htm.As you can imagine it won't win a beauty contest but will be a sure fire winner in function.
With the coaxial tank I can run a direct line and fire faster since I don't have to worry about filling the chamber myself.
