I can get 1" SDR 21 (200 psi) at my local Ace hardware for about $6.50 for 10 feet, a bit cheaper than Sch 40. It's hard finding SDR pipe online, or maybe it's just me.

It's not really special, just thin walled 1." It's pretty useful; I've used it as a barrel, or in making a blow forward bolt gun, because 1/2" fittings fit perfectly in it. It's also easier to make handles out of and heat form, because it's thinner.

Are you sure you just can't get it at a hardware store? It's sometimes a little ways off from the regular PVC, but I'm pretty sure you can find it there...

Look in your phone book and look for plumbing contractor suppliers. They will usually have it along with everything you need (ie Sch80 things)
