Flush-fit PVC end caps/plugs?

Do they exist? I'm working on a design that requires 2 pieces of 2" pvc to be mounted directly on top of each other. I can't have the outside edge of the cap in the way; I need it to be flush mounted inside the pipe, I guess. As a bonus, it would look pretty cool.

I've seen just a couple different kinds but they looked like they were for for cosmetics than anything, and didn't look like they'd hold alot of pressure. But my design really relies on a cap like this.

they dont make flush fittings.

one thing you can to is put a bunch of couplers around the chamber and that will make the cap flush with it. other than that no.

they do make plugs that go into the pipe, but it had a hexigon shape around it. you can get rid of that with a dremal or if its avalible, a lathe.

Mmm, yes... looks like that'll do. Gracias, I say, gracias! May need some sanding and rounding, but that's ok.

I'd let you know why I need the pipes flush, but then... well... you know.

use a sleeve as the same size pipe as you're using right before the end cap. kind if hard to explain. but you can do it.

could you sleeve a small piece of pipe inside your 2" leaving some sticking out and then end cap the smaller diameter pipe?might just get away with it...clearance wise. or you could just make a plug with a lathe.. that would be slick

You could, it wouldn't be pressure rated, but you could.

If it's 2" PVC, you could probably get away with just solvent welding a 1-1/4" cap into the 2" pipe. I know clide did this for one of his cannons, but I seem to remember something about spacers.

Modder, not many people notice, but DR used a 1.5" end cap on his Gen II hybrid, probably by solvent welding a piece of 1.5" Sch 80 inside the 2."

A 1.25" cap is way too loose to be solvent welded. I usually make my plugs out of a variety of different fittings lathed and solvent welded together, and everything must be a firm fit. If I were making a plug for inside 2" pipe I would get a 1.5" plug and put it in a 1.5" coupler, cut of the unglued side of the coupler and lathe the rest down to a snug fit. You might be able to sand it down with a belt sander instead of lathing it, but it would be a lot of work because a lot of the 1.5" coupler needs to come off.

Or if you can get your hands on 2" sch80 you can just use a 1.5" plug.

Alot of good suggestions here. I'd prefer not to have to use a lathe, but I can get ahold of one easily if needs be.

Right now it's just an idea I'm kicking around, so we'll see if it ever actually comes to reality. I'm not making a piston or anything, I'm actually doing your basic sprinkler valved, over-under style pneumatic cannon... with a twist. I won't say what it is for now (I need to make sure it's feasible first, I'm working on a model of it), but all I'll reveal is that the chamber and barrel have to be directly on top of each other.

Once I figure out if it's possible, I'll post more details.
