It would be interesting if someone with a modded sprinkler valve launcher firing consistent ammunition like say golfballs could do some tests with different hose lengths through a chrony to have some concrete figures on the effects of excess pilot volume.

I cant think of any consistent ammo that will fit in my barrel, except maybe slugs of ice.

Speaking of ammunition does anyone have plans for some kind of projectile that has a parachute that opens on decent? I thought that might be a good video since you would actually see where the projectile went, unlike in a lot of spudgun vids.

There were a few ideas proposed here but it's all very complicated - ideally a pyrotechnic delay like the ones used in model rockets would be much much simpler to implement, but pneumatics don't have the benefit of combustion to light the fuse on firing.

I have had good luck with tennis balls, but that is going to be too big for your gun. The idea might be able to be sized down though.

I basically cut the tennis ball in half and then used a rivet gun and some denim to make a hinge to keep the halves together. I intalled a parachute or streamer sometimes attached to the inside of the ball. Then I close up the ball and use a bit of duct tape to keep it closed. I can only get them to work in a breechloader where I can keep the taped "latch" to the back. Still working on something that will work muzzleloading.

Anyway, the firing basically rips the tape loose, the ball flys upward and then at apogee the halves hinge open as the ball starts to descend and parachute or streamer recovery. Streamer tends to work a bit better, esp multiple streamers, as parachutes are hard to roll up well.

I really need to get off my lazy butt and make a tutorial about this. Maybe this weekend....

You have the same pump as me. The Exact same. Do you use your feet or your hands?

I know it's a foot pump but i use my hands. I find it easier.

Yeh I use my hands, it's the most hopeless pump in town, If it was anchored to a bit of wood it would be alright. i;m gettin a compressor soon.

I went through lord knows how many of those pumps, the piston tends to rupture violently if you take it much past 100 psi You best bet really is a stirrup pump or for smaller volumes and higher pressures a MTB shock pump

I've gone up to 110psi before but now i have my limit at 80.
It's a good pump, I've had to repair it several times.

If you get a loud squeaky, scrapy kinda noise then apply lubricant to the piston guide rod. 2 in 1 oil works best.

A stirrup pump would be my next choice in pump as a compressor is way too expensive.

At supercheap auto they have 300PSI compressors for $20 with a 12 month warranty, I might get one of them, only problem is that they don't plug into the wall.

Is it a car one? For like tyres and stuff? If so don't get it, they're a POS and break at like 40psi because they cannot handle what us spudders do with them. Trust me, they never get to 300psi, let alone 150psi.

Nice, I was looking ofrward to the porcelein cat though you really shouldn't be making all those holes in your fence, ideally you know where your rounds are ending up, you never know who or what might be behind it.

The fence is some kind of fibro hardi-flex type stuff I'm not really sure, I've always called it an asbestos fence.

I remember when I was testing the gun for the first time with a full barrel of water (not a good idea, makes the diaphragm not seal) I was standing with the pool behind me and the recoil brought me very close to ending up in the drink, very cold right now too.

The only reason I shoot there is because theres a shed on the other side of the fence so I know its not gunna hit anyone on the other side.

I need to find a decent place to shoot this thing, I don't like taking it to parks and that because I've already had 2 taken by the cops, the only other thing I could think is to shoot it at night but then you cant see where the projectiles go, which is the best bit.
