Getting down to a 1" Sprinkler Valve

I have been finding it very difficult to find an easy way of getting from my 4" chamber down to my 1" sprinkler valve. I assumed that Home Depot would have something like a 2" x 1" reducer, but they don't. At the moment, all I can find is a 2" x 2" x 1" reducing tee. So, I have 2 questions: 1, does anyone know where you can buy a 2 x 1 reducer, (or if they exist), and is it acceptable to have all your pressurized air going around a very small (1") 90 degree corner? If I can, I only want to do extreme reducing, aka down to 1", when in a straight line. Is it ok to have escaping air (before and after the valve) go around a small corner? Thanks,

Of course 2" - 1" reducers exist, theyre all over the place whether threaded or solvent weld joints, just needs a bit of looking..
A 1" elbow shouldnt bottle neck flow too much, but judging by the fact you have a 4" chamber, youre going to need a 2" elbow to make sure that you dont restrict flow.
Not sure what you meant by 'escaping air going round a small corner', you shouldnt have escaping air if it seals properly..

By escaping air i mean air traveling towards and away from the sprinkler valve. (from the chamber to the valve, and from the valve to the barrel) Because I simply cannot find a 2 - 1" reducer, I would have to use a 1" elbow of sorts (2x2x1 tee, with 1 2" blocked off). Can someone send me a link to a website where I can buy a 2 x 1 reducer? (I can find a 1.5 to 1, but that's it. :cry: )

Well i mean if you didnt buy the 4 inch pvc, i wouldnt because there is not reason to get that if you are using a 1 inch sprinkler valve. But if you have it on hand it doesnt really matter. But if your looking for performance, i would try to see if i could use a different valve, because there is alot of potential power in that 4 inch chamber, but if you already have it, just keep going with it. For your next pneumatic, if you want power, go for a piston. And dont ask me questions about a piston because there is plenty of information on this website and the wiki, but some will be hard to find. Also make sure you mod your sprinkler valve, it would get the flow a little better and i think a trigger is cool 8) . If you want to modify you sprinkler valve further for better performance then i suggest you follow this link only after you do basic modifications to your sprinkler valve. (which is attaching a blow gun to it)

I have come to realize that home despot does not carry any useful pipe fittings, however maxus is right, 2"-1" reducers and bushings are all over, they are just not in Home Despot. I dont even know if they carry pressure rated fittings. try checking a local plumbing store, as they will actually have the things you need, and can help you.
It seems like you may be new to this site, so the thing i have to emphasize is that you get pressure rated fittings, these will say NSF-pw on them. If they do not, then they are not at all safe to use in your pneumatic, and only halfway acceptable in a combustion.

Home Depot does carry pressure rated fittings in small sizes but for larger fittings I go to acehard ware. What kind of reducer are you using to get from 4 inches to 2 inches.

At the moment, I'm not too concerned with my 4" to 2" reducer, because I have seen those at both my local Home Depot and my local Ace reseller. Just getting from 2 to 1 is a real pain.

Actually you should be worried about that reducer because both will be DWV(sure about home depot but not Ace but still fairly certain). Please look at all your fittings to make sure they are pressure rated we dont want you to get hurt and give spudding a bad name.

its pretty simple. buy a 4x2" bushing, and a 2x1" bushing, then buy a 1" male thread fitting, and then it will screw into your sprinkler valve.

Well, I have bought everything I need for the chamber(s), and I have already bought + modded 2 1" sprinkler valves... so basically, all I need to know is how I can possibly get down to 1" from 4". Even if I had to go down by 1/2" increments, I guess it would be ok. I purchased some 1.5" to 1" reducing bushings, but I don't know if bushings are acceptable on a high-pressure system. Any know-how?

is that not enough? or am i missing something.

Thats how i did mine from 2" to 1" using a bushing, and yeh i thought they would make a 4x2" bushing aswell..
