Kenwood Stereo Issues
it's not a bad connection, the potentiometer in the volume know has little blades with a contact that slides in between them. all it is is dirt and shit has built up cetween the blades and the contact but there is still a "clean spot" where the contact is good. take apart the stereo so you can get the back side of the knob and blow that shit out with canned air / and or if you can physically touch the blades and contact wipe them off with a q tip dipped lightly in rubbing alcohol. let me know if it works

I'm not sure how good all the dust from sanding is for the hardware, in fact I regularly open up the casing and clean it with a blowgun. At least ever since the window ricochet incident and I invested in a 19" TFT monitor, I don't test big stuff indoors anymore. My laptop and workbench seem to fit on the same surface at home, unless I need to do some heavy work... then I'll go outside

Heres a test -- Turn unit off, turn the volume knob all the way down and then all the way up serveral times. Then test the unit at multible levels turning it up and down while listening. If that clears up the problem, you have a burning out switch, if this works you will have replaced dead zones with cracklely zones. Your switch could also just be dirty from arcing.

Ok I lied, the problem has come back again, I tried Jrrdw's suggestion, I looked at the connections and I cleaned it out.
I'm not exactly sure about your suggestion BigGrib, should I take a pic of the inside?
