Noob Sprinkler valve Question

Noob question coming up and do not get mad at me for posting it , i just want to MAKE SURE that this won't damage anything:
Can you fill a barrel full of water with a modded sprinkler valve behind it? The water won't get inside and screw something up because its modded will it?
My gun:
Yes i know sprinkler valves are meant for water but only water moving in one direction not backwards.

The only thing that will get hurt is you...that is if you do not hold it correctly.

Putting water in a barrel then firing it will give it an intense kick that you probably have not experienced with this cannon so be forewarned.

But, yeah, you pretty much answered your own question when you said,

AWSOME, cause i have had a 1.5" ball valve pneumatic but i expect much more recoil out of this bad boy, It has recoil with a small rock! i cant wait for tomorrow with water

no it should be fine without a barrel.
The first time I shot water, I ended up giving myself a nice bruise on the hip

Good tip, don't shoot it on hip, and start at low psi
Another Question, My blow valve says 90 PSI max, is this an understatement or should i never take it past 90?

You could take it over that safely, ive taken mine to 125 and others have taken them higher

Yea i gave myself 3 nice, but small, scars on my left thumb, and index finger from firing water. And my hip. Bu seriously this recoil can be dangerous if you have the end pointing at your stomach bec it can damage internal organs. Im not saying your stupid to do that but it could happen. I would recommend using the ground to take to recoil and point it up. Or use something heavier behind you gun that is heavy to take the recoil.

I found that it's easier to place the back end of your cannon in your groin area when firing water.

I've never had any real problems with firing water from a 2" piston cannon, the recoil was nothing I couldn't handle, I expected more.

Though in the end the water messed up the lube and the piston jammed and I had to take it out and fix it.

Hah, forget water balloons now. Like everyone else said, jus tremember that the more mass that the compressed air has to move, the harder it's going to push back on you. An effect of recoil besides pain is also a loss in velocity, so find an amount that gives you good spread and good distance while not being too hard on your shoulder or whatever.

On a side note, I wonder what would happen if you filled the barrel with water, then added gelatin and allowed it to set. That'd be interesting...
