Is modding a sprinkler valve nessisary for a newby cannon?

With a foot pump, I don't see that necessary. That is more for persons using a compressor or CO2 / HPA. They leave it connected to eliminate a step.

I dont think you need a ball valve after the schrader. I think the only reason that it's used is because when you disconnect the pump, sometimes it lets air out but its not much.

All PVC (pressure rated sched 40). The power supply is a pair of 9V batteries in series. As others have posted, probably about as expensive to do the electronics as it is to go ahead and mod the valve. Unless you have most of the parts laying around already. (Or, you trash the valve while mod'ing it ) ).Radioshack has the 9V battery clips, several of'm for a buck or two. The box, safety switch (disables the trigger) and power ON light were all stuff I already had. The batteries last pretty much forever so they really don't constitute a recurring cost.

one last thing-is an electricaly moded solenoid better then a ball valve?

I would say a standard electric valve (no mod'ing) is better than a ball valve, if for no other reason than it will be much more consistent.

A blowgun mod'd sprinkler valve should greatly outperform a ball valve.

Convert the image from bmp to jpeg using PixRev. The image can then be uploaded.

Yeah. The paint program saves in bmp format and this site doesn't support that format.

For reference, here is the list of allowed extension groups and file sizes.

Edit: The design looks good. Remember, you may need to add a ball valve between the chamber and the sprinkler valve to help seat the diaphragm.

Sry for the bad quality of the top pic, but I think you can make out the basic shape. I'll probbably go with this though now that I know how much better it is
I'll probably add some sort of gard to protect the blow gun from being damaged

You can probably omit the "stoppers". Might as well use the the pipe in the "butt" of the gun as part of the air flow path.

Without the stopers wont it be worse because not all the ari will be behind the projectile

Hey does anyone know how much psi I can get with a foot pump?

Edit: BTW what would be the best valve size for a 1/2 barell 2inch chamber?
