Possible Plans for Pneumatic Bazooka

Well ever since have seen woffers cannon, i have been inspired to create a cannon somewhat similar to his. I have seen topics that have sprung up about creating a 3 inch piston valve rather than a 3" sprinkler valve because they are hard to come by. But in woffer's cannon topic, he left a comment saying he found another 3" sprinkler valve. So this sparked my interest so then i began some research. It is a rainbird and it can be seen here. So what i am asking is that can this cannon be modded?

I assume that it has practically the same internals as a smaller sprinkler valve except this has a flow control rod i believe. I know the price is rediculous but the seller is trying to get rid of this so i can make an offer and see where i can get with that.

Now i have thought about plans of creating this monster of a cannon (aside DYI's cannon and any others i forget) I will have the same modded setup on the sprinkler except i am gonna cut down on pilot volume (Just as JSR intends us all to do ).

Now i did notice that restrics flow with his design. So i have thought of having it in a more straight design, like a bazooka, or rocket launcher. This should have just about no restriction at all so should be flow efficient. But im not sure if it will be too heavy for me or the recoil could hurt my shoulder. So i ask what the community thinks.

Also, ironically, i was searching for places where they may sell these valves, so i go to the rainbird website and look for places locally within 25 miles. Well, surprisingly, they have a Mc Master Carr warehouse within these 25 miles. I was shocked so to make sure it was not an illusion, i click on the link website, and surely it was Mcmaster Carr website. So i now can get just about ne thing i need for my new cannon creations.

I have not bidded on this item because this is still a possibility, so im not sure yet. Well thanks for listening. All opinions are very much appreciated.

EDIT: Also, does anyone have any idea how i might be able to make this cannon breech loading without making to to heavy or bulky?

i might be able to get you a 3" irritol valve at my local irrigation specialists they got a lot of cool shit i'll write back tomorrow and let you know if they have one, and i can get you a discount on em too

As to breech loading, I would recommend a sleeved barrel as per grumpy's last illustration.

And also what about the structural design? Would it be good how i have it in a straight line formation, like a bazooka/rocket launcher, but the recoil and the weight wont kill my shoulder?

I'd go for a properly braced over-under, otherwise you'll be severly limited for length.

It's quite a common design, like these examples by Novacastrian and SpudBlaster15 - all you need is piping that fits snugly on the outside of the barrel and a couple of o-rings. You can either have it one piece and slide back and forth, or cut a projectile size hole in it and rotate it for reloading. No need to lock it, and a hacksaw should do just fine.

the first picture used what is called a slice gate valve, it is the same valve used on rv's to dump waste.
the second picture is just a simple pvc ball valve.
the third picture is a slide breach in 2"pvc, just take a piece of 2"pvc to a auto parts store and get a 6 or 7 inch piece of tail pipe that slides snuggly over the pvc.

Ok thx for the replies but i dont know how i can get 3 i can O-rings. i have seen that design before but i didnt know that they were the same in a sense but now i see it.

if you use the slide breach like in the bottom pic, the metal slide fits tight enough that it does not use orings and it works very well. actualy none of the designs use orings
