How do i weld PVC to metal

This might be a stupid question, but here it goes:
After looking at a lot of spudgun videos on YouTube, I thought I'd make my own one. But while making the plans, I realised that i had a metal ball valve, and I didn't know how to weld it to PVC. I don't even know if it is possible. So, should I just buy a PVC valve, or is there any other way to fix this?
Note: i haven't even bought the materials yet (lucky me ).

You get a threaded metal ball valve and a threaded pvc adapter and simply screw the together. good luck

Does the ball valve already have threads Id bet it do does I have never seen a ball valve without them.

You can't weld PVC to metal. There are however, several ways to connect the two, the most obvious being by using threaded fittings.

Also, unless you spring load or pneumatically actuate the ball valve, a sprinkler valve would be a better choice. Ball valves have a slow opening time, and cause inaccuracy on firing due to the entire launcher being moved when the valve is opened.

Please try to avoid posting a thread like this again. You could have looked at other cannons here and figured out the answer yourself very easily.

ball valves do come without threads also. then it is merely getting the right threaded metal adapter and sweating it in. whether threaded or non-threaded they are about the same price wholesale.

if the valve isnt threaded get a threaded one or much prefferably a sprinkle valve.

If you don't want the valve, you could always just use a female adapter (PVC) to the threads on the pipe.

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the stupid question 8) . I live in Denmark, and they don't really have everything in the stores, so i didn't know that you could get a threaded PVC pipe. And I don't know what a "sprinkler valve" is in danish, so i probably can't get it.. I'll have to go with the ball valve for now... again, sorry for the stupid question .

Chances are you wont find a sprinkler valve in Denmark, though you may come across a QEV like <A HREF="http://www.airlink-compressors.co.uk/im ... g">This</a> or <A HREF="http://siva-associates.com/images/Asco/ ... xhaust.jpg"> This.</a>

If you can't find those, maybe you should look into piston valves, just search the forums, there is plenty of information on piston valves.

I pretty much can't find anything here in Denmark.. Do any of you know where i can buy parts online?
EDIT: Forget it!! I'm going to build one out of soda bottles instead.. what's the pressure rating for those??

I find it hard to believe that there are no pressurised water delivery systems in your entire country. If there are systems that require pressure, you can bet that there will be pressure rated parts.

Are you trying to say that there are no industries, hydraulic systems, or municipal water supplies in Denmark? Because I'm pretty confident that there are. The problem is rarely ever a lack of supply, the problem is usually a result of not trying hard enough. You wouldn't believe the kind of things you could find in even a small town if you put some effort into it.
