That looked like a crumbly variety, not proper rubber but a synthetic grainy type. If it tears it breaks up into bits. Looks like the impact is severe enough to smash it apart.

From my tests, they don't have sufficient integrity to withstand repeated impacts at 800+ fps - they just shatter. Most guns probably aren't shooting them at 800 fps though...

[brag]I think we(I?) have 800 fps with a bouncy ball covered @ 100 psi  (especially with my recent and ongoing mods to the swat to make it support over twice the pressure that is could previously)[/unbrag]

WHAT?!?!?

That's a serious hand-held. I suppose it's not completely mad, as a really mad cannon would have rearranged the tree a bit more, but that must have still hit very hard.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

but aren't they... errr..... bouncy?

dont they bounce off the stuff you shoot them at instead of penetrating?
Yes, it's funny watching them bounce up through the trees.

No, I'm not shooting them at that rate/speed, but they all ways come back cracked up with missing pieces, when they bounce back.

And how thick is that steel? Either it's really thin, or you have a big gun you're not telling us about
