the only problem is that the force may blow it out the barrel.

well there is the possibility it will get blown out of the barrel, it could close before the chamber reaches atmospheric pressure again, it would restrict the power alot and i don't mean to sond harsh but i don't thnk its a very good idea

what, you dont like cutting burst disks
And fnord does have the only one on this site but correct me if Im wrong.
two problems i see with it
1. Flow constriction
2.It getting blown out the barrel(already mentioned but i would say it is not only possible that it will happen but likely)
so if you think you can get it to work then sure but i think it would be better if you just made a barrel sealer like fnord

Fnord constructed a coaxial type, didn't he?
I remember a topic a while back about persons trying to determine what the psi in a hybrid combusting is. I don't remember the exact numbers, but they were pretty high. What that means is that you're probably going to need something besides screws or nails to keep that piston from turning into ammo.
On the other thread, you spoke of 4x, correct? 4x mix is going to be around 45psi. That means you need a spring of at least that to keep the piston sealed on the chamber (give or take, I don't know your exact measurements). Seeing as how you have a steel hybrid, it can hold more, which means you will have to compensate for higher mixes with that spring.
Find Fnord's piston hybrid and see how it works. And keep thinking. You'll get it worked out.

I sent Fnord a pm about is valve. I couldn't figure out how it worked exactly. does it work like a normal pneumatic barrel sealer?

Yes it is a normal barrel sealer but I think it has an o-ring on it
What kind of spring would you use? Maybe a spring out of a sprinkler?
