Im surprised no one has mentioned a piston valve?

lol Mr.C i though you took that guy serious for a sec, then i was like hmmm nah no chance.

Was he being sarcatic or serious.

i thought he was being serious.

What about a barrel sealing piston valve with a union infront for a burst disc?

when you exaust the piston valve, all the air dumps into the barrel, and is stopped by a burst disc, which blows open in a spilt second?

eh... why not just cut out the burst disc? really having the combination will do a little bit of good, but not a ton because the air is already pressurized behind the piston. I can maybe see doing a burst disc with a ball valve, but a piston is fast enough i think.

anymay my $.02

I already have mentioned a piston valve.

I'm pretty certain he is joking but way to kill it guys

I think he was trying to get the guy to use a ball valve, to show how little he knew, so he'd end up with a crappy cannon.

No, really, a ball valve is the fastest valve ever! Just ask Spudblaster about the ram he made to open his... unless you want to use it more than once, in which case the fact that the handle is bent 45 degrees past the stop by its own kinetic energy, and that the ram itself gets fired several hundred yards into the woods from the blast might be somewhat limiting

Mechanically speaking, I just can't see a ball valve being faster then a blow gun on a sprinkler valve. Honestly.

It is when it's opened by a high explosive driven ram...

Used for this purpose, I don't think the discussion is actually against the rules.
