Does silicone sealant work with PVC?

Because potatoes only last one shot!

Hi,

Will silicone sealant stick to clear PVC sheet?

No, I'm not using it to glue PVC together, neither is the setup going anything higher than 2 bars pressure (30 psi). And well, this is not for spudgun use, I just need it to prevent water leakages. I'm making a crude camera housing for some random work (max depth of pool 3 m, so max pressure difference 1.3 bars).

Sorry for the stupid question, but I did a search and can't seem to come up with the topic that I'm looking for. Besides, I live in Singapore, in a crowded apartment, neighbours all around and my brother is a policeman (can't run from the police). What it means that I can't test a lot of stuff out for myself, so no choice but to ask you guys.

Hope this is polite enough for you guys; my english is not very powderful.

Powederful enough.
Make sure that the surfaces are clean before applying the sealant and use it on the inside and outside.
Leak test it first.

I have used silicone sealant on similar materials with success. Just be sure to do a clean job.

Edit: It may help if you "marr" or roughly buff the surface to allow easy the silicone to stick better.

Agreed with the above, with correct preparation it should work adequately.

The best thing to do is get aquarium sealant, build the cube and put a piece of paper inside and place it in worse conditions then you plan on using your camera in. Do a over night test to be sure.

Thanks guys.

I knew I could count on you.

I would have tried it myself if I could, but I live in Singapore, where rules concerning spudguns are worse than anywhere (australia included), and my brother's a policeman, so there's no running from the police, they are there 24/7. Lol

On the same note, would anyone know if silicone would work on acrylic sheet too? I can get both easily, so thinking of a backup in case one or the other doesn't work.

Thanks!

The similar material i used it on was Acrylic!
May the force be with you.

It does peel from Acrylic very easy, i recommend marring the surface.
