 (Torsion)-Spring-powered ball valve

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

This is my idea about a new trigger system. The red line is the handle and the green is a torsion-spring from a mousetrap. You pull the trigger to close the valve and then when you leave it the valve will open very quick, like a mousetrap.

This idea currently only exists in this post. So before I will try to build it, I want to know what you think about it.

1. A mouse trap torsion spring would only be strong enough to operate a fairly small ball valve.

2. The more force you use to open the valve the more force you need to dissipate somewhere to keep from breaking the valve's stop. Might consider a pretty thick rubber or dense foam stopping bumping.

First point shouldn't be a problem because I will use a 1/2 inch valve. 2. I didn't took that in consideration.

Thank you for your comment.

Spring loaded ballvalves already exist.
Though they were not torsion-spring loaded, which is quite a good idea. Could make the spring mechanism more compact.
the valve will open very quick
"Quick" is relative.
It may open 5 or 6 times as fast as a manually opened ballvalve, but still more then 5 times as slow as a piston valve.

Could make the spring mechanism more compact.
That's what I thought too, but I have no idea how I could do it. If I would shorten the spring, the valve would not open fast enough.

I think he meant a torsion spring would be more compact than conventional spring loaded ball valve designs like this one.
