This is the design I have been working on for a few days now that is based off of the barret .50 cal. It is a bolt action, single shot for the moment, but I am experimenting with a shell extractor and clip feed system for it. it fires using a CO2 inflator as a power sourse and uses empty 12 guage shotgun shells for ammo. it should be quite effective once it is fully operational. I built it origanaly as an airsoft anti tank/vehicle gun to shoot flour and paint rounds but it has so much potential in my eyes that I know I will end up firing any thing that will fit well in an old shotgun shell.

So the inflator fires the projectile directly? It must be quite poor in terms of power for such a relatively large calibre.

Still, your cartridge system is looking good, and an extractor shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

unfortunatly I dont have any more C02 cartrages so I dont really know how it fires just yet

the tricky part of the extractor is getting it to fit right with all of the other moving parts and still extract the shell every time.

all in good time sir, all in good time. it still needs to have a barrel re-fit and the muzzle break is a bit off center so I wont be painting just yet.

Brake, it's mean to arrest the gun's recoil, not destroy it

Since you have a hollow bolt, all the ejector needs to be is some sort of projection opposite the ejection port which strikes the base of the cartridge and tips it out. As to the extractor, a small claw on a flexible mount that grabs the rim is all you need. It will be fiddly, but definitely doable.

and correct on the extractor as well, I have a prototype it just dosent work as well as it should it theory.

If it's any help, the ejector on my cartridge loaded prototype was simply a tube cut at an angle, and with my combustion cartridge was just a bolt jutting out.

The advantage of the cartridge launchers I've made so far though is that they're built on direct blowback principles and therefore don't require an extractor as they propel themselves out of the ejection port.

Very nyce! I really like the bolt actoin desing have on it. It looks pretty uniform too, there's no parts on it that make it look like an eyesore.

Using the CO2 inflator directly? Use a chamber and a valve. Seriously.

i dont think the direct co2 cartridge will make much power. why not try to make a burst disk?
