I wouldn't use cardboard in a combustion... I don't think it'd be a problem, but eventually it'd fall apart.
The best way is to buy some bulk copper-clad circut board (I got a huge 3 foot by 3 foot sheet at a surplus store for $6) and etch gaps in it with a file or dremel. One of those won't fall apart after a few thousand combustions.
Alternatively, you could use any kind of sheet metal glued to something non-conductive.
What's your spark source?
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

take a small pipe or a stick of wood, drill holes in it, and use wing nuts as electrobes, this way, all the gaps are individually adjustable.

The elctricity would just go through the bolt. Put some washers or something on a wooden dowel. He did ask for an EASY way.

You might check out this pen from radioshack it has conductive ink so you can draw your own circuits. I've never used it but it might just work for making spark strips.
