I figured since it is a GB gun, might as well use a Golf referance to name it...

The only thing left is to paint the tripod and put a Ping sticker on it...

It's a 4"x56" chamber SDR21 sleeved into sch80, 114" barrel length...

The chamber is overlaid in black cloth duct tape, spiral wrapped with a 1/2 overlap, and then taped linearly with 1/2 overlap, and then another spiral wrap half overlap going the other direction, the tape is 6 layers thick at any one point... The overlay serves 3 purposes, 1. protect the chamber from dings and scratches, 2. Help to keep the chamber from swelling under pressure, 3. in case, Heaven Forbid, there's a catastrophic chamber failure it will keep schrapnel to a minimum, and 4. It looks really cool!!!

Some pics you've seen, but this one is with the tripod I just completed... it has full up/down and side to side movement, it'll even spin 360 degrees...

Some may notice the handle/trigger mechanism, it was canabalized from a pneumatic tire bead seater, you keep the supply line hooked up and all you have to do is squeeze the trigger to fill(about 4sec. with a large compressor) and release to fire, but it actually fills/pilots a 3/4" qev....

Happy to see I'm not the oldest active member..

It looks okay, very basic, but extremely powerful and large.

I mean..A coax's a coax.. not much you can do lookswise.
The tripod adds to the coolness, and no doubt, handling.

Hard to see what you've done to the pilot.I'd love to know more.

Note:

The duct tape will not give you any real protection.It will keep it from scratching and you won't have to worry about paint chipping off.
If you think it looks good, by all means, keep it on there, but don't rely on it to protect you..

the rear leg is removable for transport...

and the2 barrels on the floor are the 3" barrel, and 2" barrel for the modgun...

Duct tape tears like a rag doll and absorbs no where near enough energy to stop shrapnel. But you wont get scratches on it. If you used pressure rated PVC you're in the clear anyway.

Nice big gun and mount 8) good to see that there are people other than the young ones who give spudgunning a bad name..

As suggested above, a roll of steel mesh would be much more useful than duct tape if shrapnel prevention is your goal.

What pressure are you running this beast at? Given the spects it should be capable of some serious damage *hint hint*

That sucker should have some pretty nice performance levels. It does look like it's bending just a hair at your pivot point....maybe it's just an optical illusion...

I agree with the others to some degree on the tape. But while not totalling ineffective, any condition that would cause sched 80 pvc to shatter into shrapnel isn't going to be hindered any by your 6 layers of tape. That comment is actually more a testament to the strength of the pvc rather than the weakness of the tape.

That also says that the chances of sending this particular cannon to the shrapnel heap is slim to none if you keep your psi levels in the sane zone...say 250 psi or less.

Now I wonder, are you taping it in because you are using it beyond its rated pressure hmm?

The duct tape is more to protect the chamber from damage(nicks dings scratches), than for protecting bystanders from schrapnel(if it helps it helps but if not, that's not why it's there), and to help combat swelling(albeit swelling is not much, but It prolly can't hurt)Remember this is the cloth type not your standard stuff, and looks... but mainly to protect the chamber...which BTW is Sch40, rated to 220 at 70 degrees...

I've posted damage shots from this gun in the doing testing thread, I haven't taken it over 125psi YET, but even with 125 it reports like a .50cal rifle... I am looking forward to some chrony testing soon...

The "bending" you see is actually because the rear leg is round sch40 steel that slips into a Square socket, so there's a lil slop that makes it look like it's bending...

I've currently got a dodgy light socket in my room and it won't allow a light bulb to sit in it for longer than 20 seconds before either pop or it falls out.Gosh typing in the dark is annoying,yet I continue...
