The reason the valve is not centered is because I am using screw on barrels. The valve size is sized for easy to obtain material and cost. With the barrel possibly quite a bit larger than the valve, (used up to 4 inch barrel) the shorter the restricted flow the better. In testing we got the best t shirt launch distances with the 3 inch barrel when we were expecting the 2.5 inch to be the distance winner.
If there were no removable barrel and a step change in diameter from the valve to the barrel, then yes a chamber center design would be best.
