I'm thinking of attempting to make my own blowgun for a sprinkler valve....Blowguns seem kind of limited due to their limited exhaust port. I know you an expand the holes in a blowgun but I thought this might sprout some new ideas. With PVC, a custom blowgun may be due able. If it is successful, then I might be able to take the flow rate above a ball valve. I suspect though that a PVC blowgun may be possible, but it would be quite bulky even if so.

Neways, i just finished my first Pneumatic and now I wish to quickly start my second. I think I will experiment with piston valves and create either a chamber or barrel sealer.

What have you guys used as reliable pistons in the past? Any tips that you could give a first-timer?

its hard to give suggestions without a size that you are trying to make, or budget, but usually anything that fits in your housing well enough to not rattle, but lose enough to let some air flow by(barrel sealers) works well. for smaller ones, a piston made out of hot glue poured into a pipe the size you want works well. PVC rod works great too, but you really have to be creative.

You wont beat a ball valves flow as it is allready at max for the size.

You need to provide us with more info to help you with your piston.

ah of course.

I'd like to make a barrel sealer with a 2" air chamber and 1" Barrel. I'm gonna utilize a a metal ball valve (probably 1"). I would like to keep the cost around $100-$150. I have access to basic tools such as a drill, vice, but nothing fancy like a lathe.

I sugest you make a 1.5" barrel sealer. 2" T with 1.5" porting (you can reduce down if you use threaed fittings afterwards) so you can shoot golfballs and such aswell. 1.25" couplers fit well in 2" fittings to use as your piston, just fill with hot glue and bolt on a sealing face.
