Bit of a necro on my behalf.....But Impressive launcher,I'm currently still trying to get my piston to work properly,I'll get there!

Just wondering what the accuracy is like with this as mine is rather similar but not as long.

rna its hard to say about the accuracy atm as i don't have any stable ammo yet.. but it seems to be dam good...

some things have changed on this girl too, i wanted to make a musket style stock but it just wouldnt work with the length of the trigger and the thickness of the wood etc..

oh well now i can put a scope on it :P

looks good but how are you going to get the blowgon through trhe wood?

Impressive.I like the stock,I'm giving up on these small pistons,again....I'll just settle for a QEV when I find one thats not to pricey in Australia.

Looks great!
I recommend cutting the tip of your blow nozzle off before installing in the stock. (less wood removal too).
Just look inside and cut the end down to where there are no parts inside.

There's a how-to on modding the internals for better flow somewhere on here too. 8)

the mod has been done :P i had to put a stronger spring in it too as it would leak (cheap crap) i was thining about cutting more off the end but i dont realy want it blowing into my fingers i would like it to blow out the bottom but i still am yet to have a play

if your piston valve is really well made I would get rid of that female QC fitting... or at least put a BV in between or a check valve....

at high pressures QC have tendency to leak quite a lot of air when disconnecting

i normally run it with the line still attached and have a small ball valve in that line..
i will add a gauge instead of the blow gun and run some tests, so far i have not noticed any difference, a check valve would be great i might see what i can do

QC fittings really suck at higher pressures... at 400 psi it is almost impossible to disconnect them.. but they are better than shraders IMHO....

there are special QCs for high pressures that diconnect without leaking... you might also try hydraulic QCs (so far I have been using standard QCs)

yeah they are a pain to disconect at high pressures.. i wonder if i pull it apart, remove the small pin that opens the seal and then weaken the spring so it only just holds the seal shut. it would work as a nice check valve?

well at this stage the answer to that question is no, cutting off the pin inside a QC wont make it a very good check valve.. but i think i have an idea that might

well if you are going to use high pressures then you might buy those special QCs or use a either a ball valve between the female QC and use another valve for venting pressure before disconnecting...


recently I've been thinking of using push-to-connect tubing and fittings instead of a normal air hose and fittings...

some polyamide 4mm OD tubing can handle up to 50 bar

the only problem with them is that their ID is usually 2mm only... does anyone have any idea how to calculate max flow through such tube ?

well the stock is attached.. still needs to be stained and varnished but you get the idea :) i might add a scope to her too soon
