how big should the hole be?

i found a big piece of plastic(not sure what it is, its hard and white)and i want to make a vortex block out of it.
I have 8mm lead bb(i got a bag of 2000 for 8 bucks at my gun shop) and a barrel that is prefect for them.

my question is how big of a hole do i need in the vortex block?
its going to be inline vortex if that helps.

Im no expert when it comes to vortex designs but it is my understanding that the "hole" can be any size however the air in and air out holes must align with the outsides for it to work (for obvious reasons)

At least twice the size of your projectiles, about 3/4" should do in your case.

To get an idea of what the plastic is, see if it floats in water. Some plastics have a density lower than water and will float. Some are more dense and will sink. This can be used to sepearate for example Nylon and HDPE.

sweet i have a 3/4 spade bit would it give a a smooth surface.or do i need to get a forstner bit like he used in the burnt latke bbmg how to.

You don't need a super smooth surface.

A spade bit will give a pretty smooth surface if you firmly clamp the plastic and use a drill press.

If the surface is not perfectly smooth it will probably wear smooth pretty quickly.
