sorry for the late reply, havent been around in a while. the guide rod was hollow on mine, i just pressed a drop of hot glue into it, then after it dired made sure there was no glue outside the rod, used an xacto knife

If I have a leaky valve I just put some grease or heavy oil (white lithium or chain lube) on the diaphragm, it helps the valve seal.
