Fridge compressor (Another one)

Anyway I finally got the fridge compressor from an old fridge that had broken down a while ago at my grandma's house. I did use the search function but found no threads that related to my model, I looked over Crowley's thread but my wiring seems a bit different maybe some of you can help me out a bit and get it running...

IDK what is that thing to which the blue wires are connected... it might be a cap.. though, I am not sure...

I think that what you've got is in accordance to US AC power circuit wiring color codes

so..:
green is ground
red is hot
and white is neutral

It looks like a cap to me but I dont know much about electronics so dont take my word for it... Can I just cut the wires off the "connector" thing which connects to the "cap"?

Anyway I just labeled each wire according to the US AC wiring color coding so that I don't confuse them...
Now what is next?
EDIT: What I mean is what do I have to do to actually test it out and see if the thing actually works?

well you can get a cord with a socket and connect the 3 wires (red,white,green) with corresponding wires on the compressor

you can put an ON/OFF switch between the two ends (one on the fridge one on the cord) of the red wire

you should use a junction box (or what ever you call it) to join wires... you know just to be safe

yeah it seems it's a cap... google '12uF' and you'll see why I think this is so

Ok I'll buy the wall socket cable tommorow and solder it to the wires (red, green and white) right?

Anyway I'll make a drawing tonight of how I should solder everything up... I'll post it up tommrow and see if that's the correct way.. thanks poland spud

yes, red to red, white to white etc.
though IMO you shouldn't solder them... but instead use a thing (no idea what it's called)...

Ohhh yeah I've seen those at the electronics section at homedepot.. I'll have a look around next time I go this week...
