HP pump connections

For my semi-auto carbine, i need to fill its onboard tank to 400 psi
( 1300 psi rated cooper is used for the airtank )

And as i will need to refill it at each 15 shots (500 fps w/.43 gram airsoft)
I need help choosing the right quick-connect and air hose

I tough of regular air-compressors couplings, but i doubt they can take 400 psi, so do their hose (125 psi max)

So what can i use? I will need to fill it often.
In absolute nescessity, i could scratch the hose and directly connect the pump to the carbine but then again, what quick-connect should i use?

I've heard of people going higher than 125 psi with regular compressor fittings, they use them on fridgy's.

Then what hose could i use? Maybe the paintball ones, there might be an adapter for it...

As for the hose I don't know. I don't have any experience with that type of thing.

try hydraulic quick connect fittings...

or you can use push-to-connect fittings and tubing.. just make sure you can get high pressure version of them.. so far I am probably the only person who uses them so I'd say that they are quite rare

Then i need to know what pressure could i take 1/4 quick connect fiting to.

I might scrap the hose, just connect it directly.

I have taken them to way over 300psi. I got them as high as I could with my shock pump and it didn't even leak.

Also, as said above just get some hydraulic fittings and you cant have any doubt in the world.

And Hydraulic hose too. Try look for some second hand stuff, it is quite expensive if you buy it new. Here, in NZ, I got quotes from $55NZD-$65NZD for a meter of 1/4" hydraulic hose with 1/4" BSP threaded fittings. The hose can take 5000PSI. I waited a bit longer and found 4 hoses for $20 second hand at an online auction place. I suggest you do the same with the hydraulic couplers too, think they were like $35NZD just for one fitting.

yeah that's a bit of a problem in some places... but in Poland hydraulic QDs are only slightly more expensive than pneumatic QDs ... so it' not that they are always very expensive

I went to home depot.... and got a few Quick disconnects from the compressor isle.... they have been up to 650psi and are still working fine.

Just keep in mind... they will not disconnect at 650 psi... u need a way to relive the pressure before you can get the 2 pieces apart.


As for the hose... my local hardware store sells hose rated to 600 psi.... or... you could buy some from a paintball store.

The HPA hoses on paintball tanks are routinely used at 850 psi, and have a great safety factor.

I am just back from rona

They sell nylon hoses rated to 250 psi, what do you think of taking them to 300 psi?


So at 300, will the regular 250 psi quick connect/disconnect hold no problem ?

probably yes... I've taken regular QD fittings to over 500 psi (note that this doesn't mean it's safe)

I know I am a bit repetitive but you should try to find some push-to-connect fittings and tubing... I am sure you can find some rated to 10-20 bar but there are also some rated to 35, 50 or more bar

I will stick to 300 psi with 250 psi couplings and hose just to be safe .

Just to know because i am curious, but do the QD expel each other when they are released? I dont want to loose air from the airtank when i disconnect them, so is it better that i buy rapid disconnect or automatic disconnect fittings (aside from 2x the price)?

push to connect fittings are use in pneumatics.. therefore it's not somethign you can buy in any hardware store...

theoretically speaking female QDs will close once you disconnect them, but:
1. it is almost impossible to disconnect QD fittings when the pressure is higher than 20 bar
2. sometimes QDs won't close cut off the air dupply when disconnected... essspecially when pressure is higher than 20 bar

if you want to use QDs you need an air relief valve (ball valve will do) to vent the system before you disconnect

Won't the air from the airtank vent out when i use the "air relief" ? Will i need to install a no-return valve ?
