2 inch piston valve housing?

Hello,

I successfully built the Hubb 2 inch piston, but I really don't know how to do any of the valve housing. I know that the piston rides in 2 inch pipe in a tee, but other than that, I don't know what fittings to use. I would like to be able to have access to the piston (not have it permanently closed) after it is built for service and such. I will be using a 1.5 inch barrel and a 1 inch sprinkler valve. I want to have some sort of bumper too so the piston doesn't break. Are there instructions anywhere that show how to build the valve housing?

Yeah there are, mrc has instructions in the howto section, in the future you may want to search, some people get mad over that, the search is a little tricky but thes a howto on that too

That should tell you most of the pieces you need, but it really isnt that hard to figure out, you should understand what your building not just follow directions.

Ok, I knew how to do everything except the back section of the tee... Thanks guys. I take it that the 1-1/4th coupling will be able to fit through a 2 inch female adapter, because I know for a fact it doesn't fit through a male one. If that works, then my last question is how to construct the bumper. Oh, and on a side note, I will be pressurizing via a hand pump, are there any differences I must make such as adding a spring to keep it closed while hand pumping?

a spring would not hurt. as long as the piston seals well. the hubb piston has an o-ring, and can be adjusted/built to seal very well...

You want the piston to be able to be pushed with one finger through the 2'' pipe.... but not slide back by itself when tipped.

The hubb piston has a check valve as well, so seal the piston as tight as you can, and as long as it still moves fairly easily with a small push from your finger, you alright.


Assuming your piston seals well, a spring would help quite a bit.

Ok, the valve is finished and I am using a spring to seal the barrel. It will have a 54 inch 1.5 inch diameter barrel and a 32 inch 2 inch diameter chamber for a 1:1 C:B ratio.

Ok if you need any further help with it, look at Superna in the pneu showcase, it has the same exact valve you are using and the same piston.
