I thought I found a source for a compressor, but it was a dead end... I never knew it would be so hard to find an old unwanted fridge. Any ideas?

Have you tried to check in eBay? I don't know if there is still available fridge compressor in this online store. Try to check it out right now. Sorry for this too late reply.
