You never answer a question on point
Wonder why? Go look at the other thread I locked. No matter what I, or anyone else, said you just ignore it and fall back to the same points you repeat over and over. Hell, you couldn't/wouldn't even understand a question of mine that wasn't even attacking your invention but if anything complimenting it.
My point about your avatar is my opinion.
Then why can't you explain yourself? The only reason is if you're trolling and that's why I would lock the thread, like the previous one.

You failed to answer some earlier questions of mine in the SawStop thread as well. Someone would ask a question and you'd immediately copy and paste a huge paragraph about why your invention is so good.

I posted information about my invention.

In response, a claw reacher was suggested.

Do you understand why a claw will not work?

I tried to explain it.

Next came the ladder response.

I asked you specifically what would you do with an 8 foot ladder and a 16 foot ceiling.

What would you do?

If you would bother to read my responses, you might see that I am mostly posting new information and not repeating myself.

You seem to greatly appreciate what I feel about your avatar.

Thanks for respecting my opinion so highly.

Chill man, chill.

Do you own a fire extinguisher?
I'm not quite sure it's that type of invention...

If you don't have a fire extinguisher, and you have a decent fire to put out, you are very much screwed, especially if it's oil/electrical.

If you don't have a thingy, and your smoke detector goes off, you are very much annoyed, until you find a ladder or someone to change the battery for you.

You must understand the difference in urgency of the situations.

Yes, you could market this specifically to the elderly and physically disabled(or people with really high ceilings), and it might actually work, but I imagine the majority of others would say "hey, I have a ladder for that".

edit:
I asked you specifically what would you do with an 8 foot ladder and a 16 foot ceiling.
If it were me, personally, I'd have a higher ladder if I lived in such a big house. I am not saying your device is not useful. It is! I am not criticizing you! But the circumstances that it is useful in are limited. If you intend to sell this, you need to realize that and account for it.

Are you willing to be up all night awaiting a morning service?

I have met people who know of deaths by falling in attempting to reach their annoying smoke detector.

One, stood on a desk, it collapsed, he fell on his head, and died.

In this case, I would rather save people from injury and death than make a bundle of money.

I would gladly donate the E-Z Reach design if was implemented by a non-profit organization.

AFAIK I never posted anything to troll.

boytonstu,

I sent you an email (not a PM- an actual email) about your invention. - Hope it helps.

I think it was alluded to a couple of times, but I still don't see an answer.

Current building code (here) requires the fire/smoke/co detectors to be direct wired. Mine all have battery back up.

Okay...you can twist to disconnect the smoke detector from its mount...I'll even "assume" that you can "somehow" remove the plug which clips (the clip needs to be squeezed together to release..cannot simply "pull" it out) into place (without damaging the wiring), and get the smoke detector down to floor level to service the battery.

How do you propose to re-install that wiring harness clip?

Aside...I put a near dead battery in one of my smoke detectors "just to see"...it's a brand new Kidde...it beeps occasionally...not at all like in the video.

The ENTIRE smoke detector comes down, including BOTH plug ends and its original mount.

What you buy at Home Depot is mounted on my adapter plate (2 screws/nuts) and its 3 wires are attached to the plate mechanism.

Got it. The "real" invention then is NOT the "pole thingy", but rather the adapter plate?

Is your adapter plate CSA UL approved?

You have a 16 foot ceiling and an 8 foot ladder.

The smoke detector is in the middle of the room.

What are you going to do?
At the church we have a hydraulic man lift. At home I don't have 18 foot ceilings.

Why would you place a detector in the middle of a ceiling? Mine are on the wall just below the ceiling over a door. I don't need to ever move furniture to reach them.

A little planning helps.

The invention may have some use for some people, but your market is small.

I am happy that you now understand this invention.

I am certain that not only will it save lives, but the convenience factor is immense!

It appears that many folks don't 'get it'.

Every Fire Chief who saw it was immediately impressed.

You have to have some fire safety background to grasp its importance.

I really didn't expect flack when I started this post.

That is the Net for you.

Technician: Thank you for your marketing expertise.

Perhaps if you were a better marketer, you would enjoy taller ceilings.

Frankly, I expected better from you.

A costly hydraulic lift, indeed.

Exactly what every homeowner wants for Christmas.

There might have been less arguing if you'd posted that the adapter plate was the invention. Seems almost everyone was focusing on the "pole thingy", and the misunderstanding was directly related to how the topic was introduced.

So you've two possibly marketable items...an adapter plate (which MUST be CSA UL approved to be legally installed) and the pole end to grab the detector.

I have to agree with tech in that I believe the market will be small. In most instances of which I'm aware, the smoke detectors are NOT exceedingly difficult to reach...it simply doesn't make sense to place something which requires regular maintenance in a difficult spot.

Not suggesting there are not those who do things "differently".

The real problem is human nature...we're a lazy species, we forget things...like changing the battery. It makes sense to me that THAT is the reason the smoke detectors are made to "beep" in the first place.

As most smoke detectors are readily accessible, and the batteries still remain unchanged....I have to wonder if it'll do much good?

Might be better if the things had an internal timer and speaker that starts yelling "change my battery" every six months.

In fact, my own smoke detector have no internal battery, it is linked to the house alarm, that silently call the maintenance guy who very politely call me back during the day and suggest that I change the backup battery (for the main alarm system).

Of course, being lazy and human, I didn't and forgot. So a week later the guy called again, and made an appointment to change (for free, well, it's in the maintenance contract) the battery for me.

Isn't life wonderful? ;-)

I suggest that you ask the little town of Pembroke Pines why they found it a necessity to purchase 10,000 smoke detectors.

My purpose was for show and tell and not to solicit marketing advice.

Had I listened to other peoples opinions about marketing my inventions, I would not live in a house with tall ceilings, own a beach house, and enjoy toys like these:
