Filling Solenoid Hole

I am filling the hole that once housed the solenoid on my sprinkler valve. Do I need to just fill the top portion of the hole to seal it off or do I need to pack the epoxy all the way down into the bottom of the solenoid hole to plug the tooth pick sized holes at the bottom?

As long as you cover those holes with a sufficient amount of epoxy/JB Weld you'll be fine.

i prefer jb weld myself, it just sucks to wait 24 hours.
I cut a disc of hard paper (like from a cigarette pack) and stuff it in the hole
before i fill the hole with goop, to prevent glue from running through the hole and on to the diaphragm.

I just wanted to be sure because it's been bugging me. I just wanted you to know that if you were trying to spell "Dimsdale" then you have a typo in your name.

Dinsdale was the name of a character in a monty python sketch,
he is not actually shown, its a few characters talking about 'dinsdale', he liked to do things like nail peoples heads to the floor.
I use it because my dad has been calling me that for as long as i can remember
