Well my design is almost in-shortable, partially because the electrodes will have to be epoxied into place. I will still consider the resistor, however. Safety is good.
Unfortunately, this project is now being delayed because I'm re-appropriating the funds that would have been used to purchase my special electrodes to purchasing parts for my upcoming hybrid.

That's a generalized type of reaction, metal + acid -> hydrogen + metal(conjugate base of the acid).
You're making a hydrogen-oxygen combustion, but using a system that only produces oxygen?

this reactor produce only hydrogen. I have O2 in bottles, what i am doing more with this reactor is combustion hydrogen connon, that has got 143.7 Kj per gram....

I've seen well done homebrew electrolysis cells that'll produce a heck of a lot of H2 + O2. For example, http://www.et.byu.edu/~wheeler/benchtop/hydropyro.phpRJB INDUSTRIES wrote:...it produces H2 faster than any electrolysis machine you can build...
That cell is only a couple cubic inches. It does produce both products as a mixture though instead of just H2 like the Al reaction.
BTW, the design really needs a couple of pressure release safety valves. In addition, a trap between the reactor and the water scrubber might be a good idea (to keep water form being sucked back into the reator if the reactor pressure drops).

That´s right in fact i had think on some safety valves before but it never overcome the 1 bar so that´s ok so far...

A trap is to keep liquid in the scrubber from being sucked back into the reactor if the reactor pressure drops. Just duplicate the scrubber chamber, leave the water out'a it and plumb it the other way around so the outlet from the reactor goes to the short inlet pipe and the output from the trap is via the long pipe.
If the reactor pressure drops then water is sucked from the water scrubber into the trap and the air in the trap keeps the reactor pressure up. If the reactor pressure rises the water caught in the trap is pushed back into the scrubber.

In regards to the RJB unit,
Pressure safety valves should be automatic, not manual. The acid and a metal reaction vessel may be a corrosion problem. Hydrogen will dissolve into some metals.
@JSR This appears to be a metal acid reaction, not an electrolysis process. It is based on the "Works Bomb" reaction to produce Hydrogen.

the main material i use is glass in the reactor, won´t be corroded...
The safety valves are manual only in the prototype that almost never increase the pressure to dangerous levels....

Still be a good idea to include a automatic safety valve. Water heater relief valves are pretty cheap and are rated to fairly high BTUs. IIRC they pop at 150 or 200 PSI.RJB INDUSTRIES wrote:the main material i use is glass in the reactor, won´t be corroded...
