I don't know the details, but the square slot is a mag well, , and a .58" barrel is going in the thru hole. I assume JDP is using a blow forward bolt with something.
As you can see, I screwed up milling the slot. the mill y axis feeds the opposite way as the lathe, so I blew through the wall of the mag well. Yay JB weld!!!
It took me much longer than it should have. with a CNC and manual tool changes, it would have taken maybe 15 minutes. And then another 30 to tap that hole.
And it wouldn't feed the wrong way

Today I was running some 1"thick aluminum plates with various features and the like, with an o.d. on one of the features 18.500"-18.499", ok .0005"+/-, no biggie... Ran them, measured them 18.4993"(they still get anodized and spec'd dimensions are after plating).
Now the fun part, when I measured them, the shop was around 72degrees f, and about 20minutes ago my boss(the owner) call me and tells me he just checked the parts and they're dead(out of tolerance 18.4967"), I ask him, is the heat still on in the shop, and his response is "No, I turned it off at lunchtime.", so i respond, "has it cooled off much in there yet?", he responds, "it's a little chilly, but not bad." I say, "well they probably shrank" and his response is, "there's no f*#king way!!! I could put these things in the freeezer and they won't shrink but a tenth or two(.0001-.0002)"... by my calculations, it would only take about 10-13degree drop, to shrink the parts to the size he measured...
So, YES, I work for a machinist he thinks the laws of physics don't apply to him or his shop...
Starting in May, I'll be offering machining services. I don't have a mill, but my shop is otherwise well equipped. My lathe is a 10x22 with a 1" spindle bore, so please keep in mind that anything over 1" diameter becomes somewhat more time consuming, and that I can only do short pieces over 2" in diameter.
My rate as of now is $20/hour for machining and consulting services, plus materials cost and shipping. Given my current supply line, you'll have to allow ~2 weeks for raw materials to arrive at my location, but I already have quite a bit in stock. I can also produce standard engineering drawings from your designs, at the same rate as above, if any outsourcing is required.
