Copper air cane

So this is my first copper gun and first serviceable piston (my unserviceable piston destroyed itself on the 2nd shot ) I havent done much testing because of leaks and ghetto pistons (I have a non ghetto piston that i will share when I open it up again). Overall this is a gun of many firsts for me; moving to copper, playing with epoxy and creating a workable piston and I am quite proud of the leaps I have made. Anyways here's some specs;

valve: high ratio barrel sealing piston ported with a blow (sawed off)

piston: 3/4'' brass pex end cap (its hallow ) with an o-ring and
sealing face: 3mm of rubber gasket
pilot volume: about 2inch^3

Barrel: 29'' of 1/2'' copper (I think its type L)
Chamber: 26" or 3/4'' copper (type L?)

Handle: Epoxy (first time molding epoxy)

Joints: silver brazed in an extremely well ventilated area.......

max pressure: I dont really want to take it past 300psi for safety sake and im to lazy to take my shock pump that high or higher

ammo: whatever fits but preferably sabot-ed 10mm lead shot

Unfortunately I can't take all the credit as I was inspired by jeepkahn's cane gun and fueled by my frustration in him for not being able to show us the finished product.

This cane gun still needs a schrader cover and a cover for the fittings (stitched leather?) so I would appreciate any input)

I would like to apologize for the poor quality cell phone photos, if there an issue il take some more and hopefully get one of the piston while im at it.

Not a bad effort, let's see it in action!

Needs a one piece tube covering everything for the proper "cane" look though... which I will of course now proceed to suggest can also double as an integral suppressor

Thanks, I like the look of the copper... I could roll a thin sheet of copper (Im in a welding shop 5 days a week so I get free stuff all the time) between the joints to give it a cleaner look and finish the schrader cover, Also I considered porting the barrel on 2 sides to give the appearance of an adjustable cane thus justifying its construction materials.

the videos might be a couple of days as i will be firing it at my testing range.

Nicely done, I second JSR's suggestion as I think it would give the design what it needs to pull off the look (perhaps a paint job too?). Perhaps you can make something to keep the projectile in place while the cannon is held upside down? If you crush the barrel about 1" from the seat (you don't want to deform the seat where the piston seals against), you can sometimes get it just right so that the projectile will jam itself in place when dropped down the barrel (works best with heavy projectiles as they fall quicker down the barrel).

But brushed copper is so sexy..... i think for now im just going to have to do a tight sabot or put wadding both in front and behind the projectile. If i do "dress" it up a bit i will probably bring the chamber to the same diameter as the fittings, paint it and port the barrel to give the look of an adjustable cane. also i need to finish the schrader cover.

works best with heavy projectiles as they fall quicker down the barrel

They fall with same speed but heavy projectile has bigger kinetic energy, but I made my that works with 0.25g bbs

Ignoring friction, yeah

As you said, the point is that they have more energy when they get to the bottom and .12g BBs can struggle down the barrel as they deal with the friction compared to .80g BBs; well I assume it's the friction and low weight that makes it slower anyway.

I can just use soft but tight fitting projectiles so as to not damage or erode my barrel. Either way I'm going to have fun with it
