Has anyone ever tried to use one of the compound rounds from Ultimate Spud Gun as a piston?? I was thinking, it already has the o ring, why not just slap on a sealing face? Or would it be too heavy?? Your thoughts and opinions please!! Thanks!!

I suppose you could cut one down and replace the metal face with a rubber one, they're not too expensive either.

Its made to fit inside of 2 inch sch.40 perfectly with the o ring, so it should work in a 2 inch tee perfect, I would think? Does anyone have one that could comment?

The 2" TEE fitting would have a larger ID than just a 2" piece of SCH40... because the TEE is designed to be the female end of the connection between the TEE and a piece of pipe. Due to that, it won't fit.

You could ask Mike at UltimateSpudGun about making a modified round to use as a piston.

Yes, however you usually put a small piece of 2 inch pipe in the tee for the piston to slide correctly?? Wow, the legendary P.C. GUY comments in one of my threads!! I feel honored!!! Thanks for your reply.

Someone else really should start up another site. Launchpotatoes.com is no longer, and spudtech has the supah valve, which is huge and a bit pricey. And Ultimate spudgun has no pneumatics at all. Alot of people dont have the tools, or wisdom to make a good barrel sealer. I didnt have a clue until I got one in my hands and actually seen how it was made and how it worked. As I said before, just a thought......................................................................

Humm true... shows how many pistons I've built but I believe I've seen it numerous ways, sleeved and unsleeved.

It could probably work but something to keep in mind is that the compound rounds have a bolt through them to hold the metal front cap on. You would need to remove that bolt and seal it very well with some epoxy or something...

I know Mike from UltimateSpudGun's has numerous projects going on, but possibly he may be interested in expanding into some accessories for cannons such as a the piston for a piston valve setup.

Alot of people dont have the tools, or wisdom to make a good barrel sealer.

If they don't have the wisdom then maybe they cannot be trusted to use one responsibly

I did not know they were hollow, never seen one personally. However, could fill it with hot glue, epoxy, whatever??

It would make more sense to chop it, far too long for a coax piston anyway.

Hollow is fine. On a narrow ratio piston, lightweight reins over pilot volume. Narrow ratio pistons pop open. Wide ratio ones honk. Wide ratio pistons benefit from low pilot volume.
