Hey guys. My friend wants to make an aluminum spud (after he saw my mini
), but he doesn't know how to securely put the pipes/fittings together. I first told him that Teflon tape would work, but then realized that it would probably leak at high pressures. How can he put aluminum pipes/fittings together without any leaks at high psi? Much thanks.

Teflon tape will work at high pressures, apply it correctly and tighten your fittings and you'll never have a leak. Don't epoxy them, you'll never be able to change anything because the joints will be permanent

Ah, thanks. I will search up a guide on using Teflon tape correctly. Should I get 1 inch or 3/4 inch Teflon tape for use on the tubes?

Teflon tape will work however plumbers prefer pipe dope aka thread sealent for metal pipes. There is also this new stuff out called blue monster that is amazing it comes as a tape and a sealent. Epoxy will work and it can be removed with a little muscle and a few wrenches. Good luck.

Hm, I think I will actually use pipe dope, as my friend says that his dad actually has heaps. Thanks for the reply!
I use teflon tape, cheaper and no mess. You need at least 3 layers, if not more, and tighten the shit out of it. I use an 18" Stilsons for 1/2" to 1" steel. Just be careful you don't slip and nearly impale yourself. Happened to me twice.
