In a post-Apocalypse world when all you have left is $20 of plumbing fittings and some Meccano, what do you do to hold off the zombie hordes............

You build this for fun. An afternoon plinker for the kids.
  • 100psi on the compressor
    10mm plastic BB's
Some tube from Bunnings (Home Depot for the rest of you)
My 40 year old Meccano set
    Single shot breech loaded
To do is a tube mag, some sort of sights, flash suppressor, muzzle brake, bipod...................

Video maybe tomorrow

Edit:Added rear photo

Thanks to JSR for the idea and the tutorial on a cheapo QEV setup :D

Basic fire test

Target was about 5 metres, 100psi shots
The can is a standard food can, pretty solid tin plate.

Not bad considering the projectile is a plastic jewelry bead.

As a replacement for the slide valve, this works, yes ?

Yes it should work well, you connect the primary air source the the bottom, the normally open position to the pilot area and leave the third port open.

The description says 1/2" NPT threads but give the 11mm dimension, it's most likely 1/4" BSP.

You already got it? Money wasted. That valve is useless, I have no idea why it's called 2/3 valve, it's not even a DCV.

I tried one as well. City, as in "Welcome to City Wok!".

Well poop, that was no fun.

Anyone got a link for a solenoid controlled three way that actually works, I am adding electrics to the toy for reload and a few other things so might as well pilot electrically as well.

TIA

This
Kind expensive. Also note that all electric DCVs wast a tiny amount of air (exhausted to pilot the spool to charge the air flow) every time switched on.

This is true because most solenoid valves are indirect acting valves
but you can also get direct acting valves which don't waste air

unless we stop them now

What would be an example of a retail version. Though I think I will try to build a DYI version.
