People look at you like you're nuts? Or run and duck for cover?

It depends on the situation. Civilians that we were passing were of course staring in disbelief. Players caught in the open were running for their life; unsuccessfully. It can really sprint over the meadow and it is very loud while doing that . "Are you nuts" moment was very common when players met this thing for the first time or when a sentry reported seeing such thing over the radio. The intimidation effect was certainly there and even our opponents enjoyed the game a lot due to this vehicle.

Sweet battle wagon. Did the opposing team have a way to disable the vehicle? What are the rules if a player inside is hit?

The current rule is that vehicles considered as "armored" have one sticker (A4 format) on one side of the vehicle as target for paintball weapons (5 hits destroy the vehicle, crew has 10 seconds to leave it otherwise they are eliminated as well). Non-armored vehicles have four stickers from all sides and we use them for transport during the battle only, we do not take them into skirmish. We had one sticker in the back that allowed us to be very aggressive with the vehicle.

When the player is hit inside he must cease his function and wait until the driver safely stops, then leave the vehicle and go to dead camp.

That sounds great, my only doubt is how you can really accurately count 5 paintball hits on the A4 target, especially from the inside.

On civil vehicles you have the stickers from inside on the windows so the problem is not there. For our vehicle, either there is a referee, or we try to run away and when we are outside of combat we quickly check the sticker. Then we are either dead or alive :) Opponents do not mind that as we will miss the 10 seconds limit for evacuation with this tactic.

I have a custom modded bolt action marker which fires first strikes and I can hit a quarter at 20 feet (yes, low range but small Target) if there's no wind.
It may be hard for regular markers but first strike and a decently close range can definitely do it.

What I meant was "accuracy" in terms of recording the hits, not actually getting them.

Here's a thought, that would require a bit of arduino knowledge but is feasible, metal plate with some piezo sensors to register impacts, it could set to count them and for example set off a smoke grenade to mark the vehicle as "dead".

That's nice idea, Jack! If we decide that registering hits is limiting factor for our vehicle, arduino with piezo sensors in your suggested package sounds like an elegant solution to that.
