Why did this have to happen?!

oh, crap . I was shooting potatoes, apples, slugs, and pieces of pumpkins as buckshot (4" barrel). well, lets just say I crammed several pounds of pumpkin down the barrel, charged it up to 60 psi, then shot it. the gun was backed up against a railroad tie (long story, ask later), so it couldn't move backwards. the recoil forced the barrel back, snapping the pvc in several places. luckily, i was able to remove the fittings that needed replacing, and the cracked pipe without damaging the valve, the two 4 inch elbows, one entire air chamber,etc are all fine. the tee under the tee with the valve in it, and the coupler, reducer, and pipe connecting it to the elbow all need replacing. I estimate the cost at 40 bucks (maby more, maby less, but not by much), but I've spent too much on it to just give up. $40 is not all that bad, seeing I've spent well over $400 on it so far (wow!). I can have it up and running, maby more powerful than ever before within the next two weeks. the gun is in three pieces at the moment. needless to say, the swat gun well be out of commission for a while. oh well, I will just dirtbike more for the next two weeks.

It's all pressure rated to well over 60 psi, so there was no chance of that. all the pressure was out the barrel when it broke, or was in the process of it, so that was obviously not the cause. the pvc flexed to absorb the recoil, and snapped in several places, and came out of the reducers, fittings, etc in others.

what? to not cram 8 or nine pounds of crap down the barrel? this would not have happened if it had had room to roll backwards to take the recoil. at least I got all the fittings and cracked pipe off without a problem, and the valve, air chambers (mostly) and 4" elbows were all fine.

DAMB! I love this gun, Maybe you can add dual 8 inch chambers next time? lol. Atleast the valves not damaged, Make sure to get some new pics of the new gun man!

you can bet I will work at fixing it. the mixture of brand new white fittings, pvc primer, and black paint will give me an excuse to paint the cannon olive drab, or cammo, and straighten out the valve (It's off by a little bit). I will post pics with the new parts, and paint job.

When you rebuild it try to double layer it and weld the double layers
together this might be expensive but the chances of the barrell breaking
again would be less.

double layer it ? do you mean sleeve the chambers, or the barrel? I do not see how this would help. I will move the railroad tie, and give the gun ample room to recoil, though.

Edit: ohh, I get what you are saying now! the barrel did not break, It was fine, the rest of the gun, mostly the "manifold" (If you could call it that since it's pressurised), broke

Oh the way I read it sounded like everthiung but the valve broke.
Anyways I would double layer the parts that receive the most stress.

Well I cant wait to see the new version, And I have an idea! Lol you could sell these massive guns to people for $2000 and then you can make a womans version and paint it hot pink! lol. Man I have a few great ideas like that! I would love to see this gun shoot a 4 inch ice round! man that would hurt like a mother... Try making a mini version of this gun and go paintballing with it. Or you could use the big version and sneak it in with a really really really large backpack...Haha be funny to see...

the backpack would have to have wheels, and most likely an engine . I may build a wooden support for the valve, and rest of air chambers too. man, This really sucks.
