you know rifleing does nothing for a paintball barrel right.. paintballs aren't filled completely.

You are correct, I forgot that…sorry.
Unless you are referring to my muzzleloader idea, that’s why I said to wad it.
But for a paintball marker barrel cut deep and wide grooves so that the air is forced out in a spiral putting a spin on the paintball. Not even 30% positive this would work…

3/4" SCH 40 PVC would work, but it would be less accurate. It is thinner, so the paintball doesn't have as good a fit in it.
Judgment_arms, yes, I know how to make a really accurate paintball rifle that shoots at a better velocity than 300 fps. I don't need a muzzle loader. If you've ever paintballed (which I doubt because you're telling me to make a muzzle loader) you'd know why.

My friend, I have played paintball and I have never needed more than one shot every one to two minuets. I would rather have an accurate gun the one with a high rate of fire.
Fast is fine, but accurate is final, the trick is learning how to take your time when you're in a hurry. - W. Earp
Did you even read my post? The whole point of using 3/4SCH40 PVC is because it’s bigger. That way the paintball does not touch the rifling but the wad, a peace of sheet foam rubber, bites the rifling instead. That way the paintball does not burst, yet it still gets into the rifling. and if you hade read my post you would have read that if you really want a repeater make a revolving rifle, meaning you have five (I like five but in theory it could be any number you so pleased) chambers each pre-loaded with a patched paintball you simply align the chamber with the barrel and fire. Now, do you understand, or are you to slow?
EDIT:
My gun still shoots at 300FPS

No, woodsball or scenarioball, I think I got the names right…
I’ve actually wished my gun was a muzzleloaded rifle before, wasted half a hoper trying to hit some on at 50 yards. The ball kept hooking in random directions.
Most of the time when we play we do “civil war” which means no hoppers on semi/full-auto and only “pocket” hoppers on slide “pump” action guns.

rifling doesnt work with paintball to a certain degree ... you have to remember that the ball is not completely filled with paint, and or they arent exactly the same... think of taking a glass of ice water and turn the glass .... the ice turns slower than the glass ... same concept here - when you rifle a paintball barrel it just makes it fly out of wack (yes ive tried this i dont want to right a 5 page essay about my research) but yes a longer barrel DOES increase accuracy AND range ... what i do suggest tho is that (if you are trying to be a sniper) get a double Y attached to the end of the barrel so that the air is directed back towards you ... this way the sound is directed back at you instead of projecting at your opponent .... believe me there is like a 60% decrease in sound that uis heard when the couble Y is attached
OK just to put my 2 cents in, having alota paintball experiance.
Riffling a paintball gun has been done on a COMMERCIAL level and has never really proven to help. The quality of the barrel has the most to do it along with the fit of the paintball in the barrel.
300Fps is 300fps no matter the barrel size. people say they get more range because the longer barrel has more time to accelerate the paintball (not making it legal anyway) if you go from a short barrel and get 300 fps and then put say a 14 incher on there your velocity will jump up to like 340ish.
that would be why people say u get more distance.
the scientifically proven optimum length of a paintball barrel is 12 - 16 inches.
anything less causes the ball to not hit is acceleration apex with the amount of air behind it. Anything more and the paintball hits 300 fps before it leaves the barrel and starts slowing down.
the best thing you can do for paintball barrels is
-buy a quality barrel(atleast $50)
-buy a 12" - 14" - 16" barrel (good barrels come in those sizes anyway)
-if you dont buy a barrel kit then find a paint that is a good bore size for ur barrel(it should fit your barrel airtight but be able to used like a blow gun. or you can just get a ball bore sizer)[/list]

Didn't someone say rifling has no effect on spherical objects? I think that was posted a bunch of times before.
Yes im sorry. I was just summing everything up.

Yes, that is true. you then turn down the gas, so it lasts longer, making the long barrel more efficient, because it takes less gas to achieve 300 fps.scope wrote:300Fps is 300fps no matter the barrel size. people say they get more range because the longer barrel has more time to accelerate the paintball (not making it legal anyway) if you go from a short barrel and get 300 fps and then put say a 14 incher on there your velocity will jump up to like 340ish.

Hello McFly! Do you know what wadding is? If you wad the paintball it doesn’t matter how imperfect it is it’ll still bite the rifling it’ll be at least a hundred times as accurate! Do a Google search on the Brown Bess. They were smooth-bore flintlock muskets they had a high rate of fire because all you had to do was drop the powder and ball down the barrel, you barely need a ram-rod, but they were wildly inaccurate they had an average group of two to three feet at fifty to sixty yards. The Brown Bess is comparable too the average paintball gun, high rate of fire, couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. But at the same time they had highly accurate rifles that could hit a man sized target at ranges of up to one hundred yards or more! You know why nobody used them it took time to load.
Now my point. It WILL work, end of discussion. If you knew anything about ballistics this would be painfully obvious. I got to go. If you still don’t believe me I’ll explain it more when I get back.

Are you saying use wadding in a paintball gun??
..... ur kidding right... my gun shoots 25 bps i dotn care how much more accurate that would be. Paintball is essentualy an accuracy by volume game due to the fact that a paintball no matter wat is done to it is not super accurate. Plus the limitation of 300fps to be able to snipe someone you need to been damn stealth to walk into a "snipable" range. I mean people do it but they even put out a small grouping of shots.
The sad reality is that no matter wat type of paintball you play there needs to be atleast some rate of fire because the guns dont have the distance or the accuracy to "snipe"

300fps doesnt change, it saves gas
For sniping get a ghille suit
rifling doesnt do shiyt for paintballs
if u want range get a flatline,
if u want accuracy get bipod, red dot sight, and well fitting paint
Muzzel loaders save paint for cheapos, suk for actually playing
One last thing dont use a tippman 98c they suk

No I’m not kidding and I not saying to wad a paintball in a normal paintball gun.
What I am saying is make your own paintball gun with a rifled barrel.
A paintball is not inherently inaccurate, a stock paintball gun is. If you think just because a paintball is a sphere it’s inaccurate your wrong a whole slew of muzzle loaders use round ball and are very accurate, if you think that because a paintball is imperfect it’s also inaccurate you are wrong a lot of the old mountain men cast there own balls and a lot of them were far from perfect, but still accurate.
Now if you want a fast gun then forget about accuracy, but if you want to “pick the fleas off a dog’s back at 50 yards” then you got to think muzzle loader. Wyatt Earp once said: “fast is fine, but accuracy is final, the trick is learning to take your time when you’re in a hurry.”
Now if you’re thinking “why does it have to be a muzzle loader?” it doesn’t, if you had read my earlier post you would have seen my suggestion to make a revolving rifle, meaning a repeater.
Now if this still doesn’t make sense to you then you have no business telling me my ideas won’t work
Ok and to Abcdefg, judging by the way you spell you must be an expert.
Flat-lines, red dots, and by-pods do squat! The gun still can’t hit the broad side of a barn! All it does is allow the loose nut on the trigger to say “I’m special I’ve got fancy crap!” I’ve regularly got within ten feet of the OP.FOR. WITH OUT a Ghille suit!
Now tell me which would you rather do: get within twenty feet of your target and empty half you hoper and still miss nine tenths of the time, or stand up on the ridge and pick them off at twice the effective range of most paintball guns and drop them with one clean shot to the mask?
