I've tried this and as mentioned by Monkey, it hardens on contact with air, so when you put it in a piece of PVC, there isn't enough air to make it harden. I've done this a number of times, with varying amounts of foam, and have never had it harden properly. The only thing that i think worked was the pam cooking spray on the inside to keep the foam from sticking. Let us know if you can make it work though, as i would love to make sabots this way.
