just a general question about pvc fittings

How tight should the fit bettwen a fitting and the pipe be. mine are hard to put together all the way to the shoulder. and when i do they are very hard to get out. Is this normal? Do i need to sand it down?

No you don't need to sand it down. when you solvent weld it you should hit it with a rubber mallet. This will get the pipe down into the fitting.

ok. once its down i heard that your supposed to turn it a quarter of a turn, true?

Yes this spreads the pvc cement equaly. there a how to on priming and cementing on burntlatke.com

I never turn the pipe (i've never even heard of that :oops: )and i've never had a leaky connection
You will undoubtably have no leaks, especially with a fit as tight as you describe :)

Turbohacker I have noticed that you always do half ass jobs and since they don't fail on you, you claim them as law!
You are supposed to turn the pipe for a reason.

Just like you said you don't need to wait for your pipe joints to cure for 24 hours.

turning the pipe also gets ride of air bubbles does it not?

don't dis on a man's art this isn't exactly rocket science, the guns don't have to be perfect

Unlike you I dislike having and endcap blow out and seriously hurt someone or solvent welding a gun and having it leak through a 20$ fitting.

I don't "dis" on his so called art, I just state that he is wrong.
