Yeah really, and what the hell is "Redoxon"? Looks....interesting. How are you going to shoot it straight witht the fins? Unless....do they pop out of the sides? You leave a lot of questions to be answered. Spud

oh. hahaha I read that completely wrong. i thought he said he was making a rocket propelled spud gun  ok. i think i got it now. you are making a rocket. but what does it have to do with spudguns? What is it going to run on? can you give a better explanation of what the he// it is? Look interesting anyways.

Sorry for the unclear explanation.I was groggy...I was thinking of using it as a round of ammo for my spudgun.I wanted to ask you guys whether it would actually work (I don't own a spudgun yet; don't ask).

For Spudzinger: "Redoxon" is a brand of vitamin C tablet that you put in water and it fizzes. What pops out of what sides??

Although I don't know... perhaps he is using a reversed system, with the projectile fitting over the barrel.

Anyway, you guys are lazy blabbermouths.

A quick Google search would've netted you lots of highly relevant results for "redoxon"... which is a brand of industrially synthesized vitamin C.

...and flamerz, they where wondering if the fins - made of calender cardboard - were spring loaded.
As it is, it might have a bit of trouble fitting in a barrel.

Nay, they aren't spring loaded.I don't know if they have any trouble fitting in cos when i measured the width of the rocket, it was about 2 7/8 inches.I dont know about using this as a reversed system but it could work..the tube itself is around 1 1/8 inch wide.will try when I build my gun..

Cardboard is going to get destroyed after one or two shots. Try making some fins out of metal sheet. also if you stick them through both sides (like an equilateral triangle in the middle of the tube rather than two right triangles on the side) it will have a lot more structural integrity.
"On a scale from 1-10, I hope you fall in front of a bus."

:white stuff pours out of piston: "What is that? It looks like milk."
"....Well... it's not milk."

YAAAAAAAAYYYY WE'RE DOOMED!

deusXmachina:

Kinda hard to find sheet metal..Would 5mm acrylic sheet work?and how do i put the fins through both sides(i have 4 fins remember)? I don't have access to much machinery.

Get a polystireen disk cut it to the diamiter of your barrel then put it on the ass of it when you load it up.
Or a traditinal sabot where u carve out the shape of you projectile in two halves of pollystireen so it is incased inside. Shove it down the barrel and away you go.

no you will just get a small fire inside the rockit if you using a good enough propelent. plus what are you going to do with the fins? Your not going to get a good seal around the barrel?
