I may also sand out the edges so the O-ring wont haven anything to get caught on... If increase friction with the o-ring, I'll need a stronger spring to get it to retract, and if I use a stronger spring I'll have to increase pressure to get it to blow forward... ugghh

Aren't you losing a lot of air before the bolt blows toward enough to fire.

Yes, you will have to tweak things, but you'll be able to use a hopper like you want to
I think a slight increase in friction will only marginally change your other "settings". This might be a second rubber band, or shorter spring; and a few extra psi per shot.
(personally I would just be happy with a fuctioning blow forward barrel
