Well after 2 and a half weeks with a jammed piston i have rebuilt my s400's piston valve.
I made a new pilot seal, bored and cleaned the EQ hole, got a new spring that is nearly ideal, i also cut a new sealing face and replaced the nylok nut.

this video below was 3 half full aluminum deodorant cans lined up in a row and shot at with a marble at about 180psi.

the valve has now been shot about 10 times since and has not yet jammed or spat the sealing face/and or not re-sealed.

after the rebuild i have noticed a louder report, deeper penetration and more reliability towards re-sealing and firing.

i have been playing around with spring tensions and piston travel with spacers and different springs and so far the best i have found is a spring that holds 35lb of pressure and with a travel distance of about 18mm.

just though i'd share this with you and also feel free to comment and ask questions.

If you'll notice there is a small symbol on all of the cans that looks like a little flame. This means you should have had an ignition source near them when shooting for maximum entertainment.

Anyway, good job for somehow improving on perfection.
I demand a ballbearing test!

What kind of a name is "BRUT" for a deodorant? (though Brut-Impact is kind of fitting)

Is the spring really necessary? If it's just there as a bumper, why not use a section of rubber instead?

@F.C, nooooo, not nsw.... im in Victoria.

@JSR, yer it is necessary, because of where and how i charge it the sping is necessary, it re-seals the piston after each shot, and i dont use a bumper.

does anyone else use springs to reseal their pistons?

below is a pic of where my fill point is

Your current setup is great but it would make more sense in terms of performance to fill through the pilot area and eliminate the spring altogether, can't you thread the schrader into the blowgun somehow?

I use a spring in mine. I put a piece of wooden dowel inbetween the spring and sprinkler valve, i did it that way to protect the sv from the spring but quickly figured out the shimming and bumper and resealing properities, and was real happy about it then. I'm going to watch the video now, cool beans man!
