I'm new to the whole auto bb gun thing. I own conventional bb guns, airsoft guns, and real ones too. Since I am considering constructing a BBMG, I was wondering if anyone has ever used a power sprayer as an air sorce (not sure if it will work at all, I have a compressor and paintball CO2 tanks) and if hop-up is commonly used in airsoftMG's. I know you can buy just the barrel and hop-up system from airsoft sites.

you could make a high pressure cloud with a ball valve and regulated co2? you would have to find a good chamber and barrel though.

I know, but I was wondering if the actual machine would provide the right compressed air for a gun. I have two, a gas and an electric. The electric powere washer would be more convenient than my 50 pound compressor.Zen/// wrote:Im not sure about a power sprayer, but blowguns for compressors are only 5-20$.

power sprayer? like those things for weeds? or a paint sprayer? i would say it would most likely not have enough power because all it need so do is propel atomized drops of liquid which are considerably smaller than bbs, and even at that they have a max range of like what 10 feet? or are you talking about a pressure washer? if so pressure washers aren't meant to use air, the are lubricated and cooled by the water that runs through them.
most of us tend to stay away from hop up becuase of the complexity it adds, not to mention the effect would most likely be negligible. at 50+ rounds a second the hop will most likely not have time to reset it self (that comment will not make any sense unless you have taken apart a hop chamber and know what the spacer is) then you have to consider how fast a hop bucking will wear at 50+ rps. in my mind its just not worth it, hop was designed for gun which firing using short bursts of air from a compressed cylinder, meaning the guns have to make the most out of a very limited amount of air. in a bbmg there is constant air source, you want more range up the pressure don't bother with hop up it just adds another part that can fail.

Also, is acrylic casting resin like this or others found at Michaels good for making a vortex block? http://www.eti-usa.com/

I'm still confused as to what this power sprayer is, like a pressure washer?

Yes i think he means a pressure washer and i dont think it would work to well as the water might disrupt the flow of bbs as they leave the barrel.I also think the water would have to fill up the chamber of the cloud for it to work at all as it is water pressure and not air pressure you are dealing with now.I am not 100% but pretty sure that it will only work badly but it might be ok.

I'm sorry. Yes, I mean pressure washer. I should have cleared that up sooner. I have little knowledge of how one works, and if it would work without water, which is what my suggestion was.
